Healing Horses: A 10 Week Transformative Course

Healing Horses is a transformative course that blends horse training and behaviour modification with our own emotional regulation, trauma processing, emphasizing the connection between how we handle horses and how we are feeling internally.

This 10 Week Intensive Program meant to transform the mental health & overall well being of both horse and rider. This course work includes deep dive education on motivational psychology and equine behavioral science. The goal of the program is to leave horses and humans with the problem solving skills to navigate stressful and difficult situations. Healed learners build healthy partnerships. 

The 10 week course includes course material and 10-live teaching sessions with Bri & Shelby, plus the recordings to rewatch after or if you cannot attend live. If you cannot attend live, you will also have the option to pre-send any questions or concerns to be answered. Lives will go over the course material at the end of each week. 

Learning Objectives:

• Skill building to improve Equestrian mental health
• Deep dive into motivation and learning psychology 
• Learn to let go of unhealthy guilt and shame
• Improve your self esteem and self confidence 
• Embrace growth mindset
• Educate yourself and your horse through reward based learning learn to use an “emotional bank account” for you and your horse
• Create and encourage species appropriate environments
• Learn to use LIMA Concepts and operant conditioning
• Practice connection, confidence, and trust building games
• Learn to develop Emotional Regulation skills for Horse & Human
• Escape the constraints of a punishment based society

Bri McDonnel, LSW:  A Licensed Trauma Therapist in Ohio USA with a specialty focus on How Trauma Affects Motivation & Learning.

Shelby Dennis, CEBC: Certified Equine Behavioural Consultant based in BC, Canada with Certificate of Equine Science and specialty focus on equine behaviour and helping heal traumatized horses and seek the underlying causes of behavioural issues.
